marktaylor@utah.gov created the topic: Up Next - ATSPM Development
Starting mid summer, UDOT will begin on a new update (the update will take a few months to complete). It will focus on archiving databases (phase 1) and will summarize the ATSPM data into 15-minute periods so to create future dashboards, view data trends, and compare data temporally and spatially. More is below:

Project Definition

1. What do you want to call this project? ATSPM 4.0.2 – Archive Database Phase 1

2. What is the objective of this project? (What is to be accomplished, by when. try to keep

it under 25 words)

Create 15-minue summary archive database and report.

3. In detail describe the project.

To do the following:

1) Create database to summarize ATSPM data into 15-minute time periods. Examples:

a. Volume by Approach, movement, lane type, vehicle type, and detector location

b. Arrivals on Green by approach

c. Number of cycles by phase

d. Percent Green Time by approach

e. Number of Split Failure by phase

f. Number of pedestrian activations

2) Create Archive Data Report (chart and data table) to view data by date, time-of- day, and

a. Approach

b. Intersection

c. Corridor

d. Region

e. Agency

3) Revise the Route Configuration to accommodate the archive metrics (currently is only

set up for Link Pivot)

4) Create a permanent web link for signal number, metric, and date.

5) Develop a unified FTP import process

6) Export Data report (using the Archive Database?)

a. 1-hour and 15-minute volume summaries by TOD over multiple days

b. Raw data

4. How will this project help the TOC (Why)?

An archive database that summarizes the ATSPM data into 15-minute periods is necessary to

create dashboards, view data trends, and compare data temporally and spatially. There are

many new metrics (some presented at TRB in January 2017) that will rely on this database. This

is the first step to expanding the capability of the ATSPM program. Revising the Route

Configuration is necessary to accommodate other metric types in the Archive Report. The

permanent web link is helpful to communicate with others (especially signal technicians) via

email or work order. The unified FTP import process will allow the reimplementation of the

Upload Current feature. The Export Data feature will simplify our GRAMA process and allow

users to analyze volume data in other software.
